Style Sheet

In a school as vicarious and shallow as mine (that's what happens when you group young adults together) taking stock of the female population is a daily recreational activity. There are the Toronto girls, the supposedly fashion conscious clones who take their cues from each other (though I've yet to discover a Queen Bee specimen leaving me to speculate they operate in a hive) and various gossip magazines, they tend to look like mostly clones with the same damn makup...

the hippies who struggle so hard to look like they don't care with their carefully kept garage sale style, their ripped shirts and dirty boots

the Underground (my favorite group) the ones with the big glasses, dyed black punk hair, tight skinnies and vintage sneakers, ready to infect your computer with a virus

the just-don't cares aka wannabe nerds, who've been recycling the same old navy shirt or roots sweater since age 15 because they've just given up on trying to fit in....so they make the most of 'not caring' which is all such BS really, I know they love it when someone helps them figure it out

More groups etc etc etc

The people I think who look best are the ones who are just quietly confident and at ease. They trot along doing what they like and I think they look so pretty because they're genuine, smart, nice people. It's something you can't buy at GAP, it's gotta come from within. It's gorgeous in their own way.
