I fucking hate this tabloid
I am ashamed of how it portrays Singaporeans. We appear to be the worst sort of people. Full of nosiness about other people's affairs and eager to pull each other down. If it's not one catty article of a housewife criticising other housewifes for being "selfish" in complaining about not receive a slice of the government rebates (since when is political discourse selfish anyway?) it's another article sniffing about how "revealing" and "sexed-up" the Winter Olympics are. Who gives a shit about their hypocritical moralising tirades anyway? I'm sure half the reporters come to work in tanktops and short skirts as Faliq can attest.
Even if the story is vauguely newsworthy the manner in which it is presentated with emboldened FONTS designed to shock and titillate the poor belagured reader is pathetic. Can't their content stand for itself?
Apparently not. Even the content style is awful, awful, not even worthy of the most mediocre blog. One such gem? "Perks of working for Al-Quaida". What a horrible flippant manner to deal with such an emotionally charged subject. What next, "Which does the Pope-man prefer: boxers or briefs?" Is nothing sacred to this crass "journalism"?
So I'm ashamed. I'm ashamed, because despite it all, I still identify with Singapore. And I'm ashamed that my country can come up with such trash. There are 4 media outlets in this country. It doesn't reflect well that out of so few we have so many of such low quality.*
*Don't get me started on how fucking racist the New Paper New Face is. Why the FUCK does every single Eurasian win every single damn time? Sure Eurasians sell well on a commercial basis but surely the New Paper should be actively promoting diversity amongst its readership not simply content to rest with the status quo. That fucking girl could get a job with any Tom, Dick or Haryy modelling studio. Why not choose someone new, a Malay girl or a mixed one, an unconventional gem overlooked by most companies in their fear of "rocking the boat". WTF.
