It is so satisfying to have the apartment clean. Picked up Jess at the airport (she brought rain from Vancouver) and then procceded to scour the apartment from top to bottom. So nice to see the floor again! Cleaned out 6 bags of old clothes/bags/shoes and dumped them outside the catholic church a block away at 3 in the morning. Idea courtesy of GWEN and Chunnized by me. Hey they're Catholic, there's no way they're going to throw my stuff away, isn't waste one of the cardinal sins?? As my dearest said, if you don't ask they can't say no.

Went out for dinner at a Portugese restaurant with Jess and had nice time catching up over a pitcher of Sangria. Gowri, Steph, thanks to you two dinner no longer seems complete these days without a glass of Sangria in one hand. ;) So it turns out that Jess had a summer fling with a 30 year old British guy who went travelling with her in Cambodia and Thailand. Took her out for dinner everynight in Cambodia at the Foreign Correspondants Club (very The Quiet American style) and she had a blast. Nice to hear! Apparently the boy paid for everything from a plane ticket from Phnom Penh to Bangkok (he bribed the staff to get seats) to dinner and drinks everynight. Very suave. Stuff equality, it's nice to be told to put your wallet away whether you're straight, gay or dyke. Btw, Portugese cuisine seems to be composed mainly of grilled chicken, grilled meats, egg tarts and bread. Doesn't remind me of Malacca at all! Or is Malacca Dutch? The waiter was a nice Portugese guy and he gave us a tip: If you want to get the full flavour of Portugese food you've got to eat with your hands! So he brought us lots of wet naps and we did it Portugese (more like Gwen, I say) style grrrar.

Then at night we went and watched the movie under the stars that's part of the Montreal film fest: Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo. My first Hitchcock film! V. good, love how he pauses the camera and lets you take in the entire scene. Though of course who can beat the dramatic wave that hit the coast with a splash when the hero and heroine kiss!
